Saturday, Miracle Field. This rain-delayed event got started under overcast skies, and a coolish mid 50's made for comfortable play, if not for the FREEZING people in the stands. I swear we all under-dressed for the wind and temperatures. But, in our defense, we were all led astray by dang Connor Vernon's promise of 70's temps. Rickey Stokes was up in the booth keeping the spectators entertained with his commentary.
These two law enforcement agencies, the Dothan Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff's Department came together to raise money and draw attention to the need for a fully-accessible playground for the city's special needs children. The small donation of only $3 per person made this event both affordable, and accessible.
Our new Chief Benton scored the first run, as I recall, and Dothan Police Department won handily. Afterwards, Sheriff Andy said "Oh, they beat us. But we got a bunch of old guys, Don's what.... 65 or so??"

The effort netted over $3100 to help build the playground, and showed us once again how the two agencies work and play together. It was a great day, a great couple teams, and a great cause.
