Tips on Resume Writing

I've read thousands of resumes in my career, and it never ceases to amaze me how candidates blow their chances of landing a job, not because they lack the necessary job skills, but because the resume they submit paints a picture of unprofessionalism.  Candidates must keep in mind that the resume is what creates the first impression for the employer - don't kill your chances to get an interview by submitting a sub-standard resume.

Real lives, Real jobs, a Real loss

This is not the kind of press event you want to be invited to... last minute and in a big room with not many people in it.... just our Wiregrass leadership (affectionately,  I refer to them as M4   -- Mike, Mark, Matt and Mike) and a handful of media folks.

Our own Always L8 and Lucky Penny are championing the Wiregrass Area Food Bank's  "Souper Bowl" Soup Drive for their Food Pantry.  Now, the Food Bank's goal is 7000 cans of soup, and that's a BIG pile of soup cans, for certain.  WiregrassLive's goal is 2010 cans - well, because it's 2010 and all....

Play it Again for our Schools

Posted by DebbieT in sportsschoolplaygrounddonation

Play it Again Sports in cooperation with Yes We Can Dothan put this effort together at Circle West Theater.  Donating sports equipment for schools - what a novel idea!  It let me get some space in my closet and in exchange, Dothan City Schools received a donation from Play it Again Sports. Please read this thread in our Dothan Forum for specific details on how you can help this Saturday, January 23rd.

"We're Building a Playground here, Folks!"

Saturday, Miracle Field.  This rain-delayed event got started under overcast skies, and  a coolish mid 50's made for comfortable play, if not for the FREEZING people in the stands.  I swear we all under-dressed for the wind and temperatures.  But, in our defense, we were all led astray by dang Connor Vernon's promise of 70's temps.  Rickey Stokes was up in the booth keeping the spectators entertained with his commentary.

We all know that Dothan City Schools has been hit with severe budget cuts that have affected everything from teacher units (student to teacher ratio in the classrooms) to paper supplies.  When word came down of this year's financial limitations Deborah Hinson, Shelly Brady, April Harris and Marty Renojo got busy planning a fundraiser to supplement the teacher allotments (which truthfully don't cover much) for classroom supplies.

Residential Heating

Posted by Hounddog in Untagged

Hounddog
In the last couple of weeks we have seen cold temperatures well below seasonal normal. This has put a tremendous strain on home heating units which reveals problems and creates much confusion for people. Without getting too technical and confusing to everyone, I'm going to try and explain the difference in the units and what is normal and what is not. The very first thing I ask you to do is pick up some small object. It can be anything - an ink pen, a cup or really anything. We are going to rename it. We are going to rename it 100,000 btu's. A btu is really just a small unit of heat.
